In Our Defense
King and Spalding was the law firm hired by Republican Congressmen after President Obama declared that the Federal Government would no longer defend the Defense of Marriage Act.
Well, that job apparently cost much more than it was worth, last week, the law firm DROPPED THE CASE!
This is great news for a number of reasons, but mainly it is a huge testament to the national climate.
When law firms represent clients or positions that are politically unpopular, they lose clients. If the issue is sufficiently contentious enough, they lose a lot of clients. If the issue is outright legal nonsense, hateful, ignorant, and unacceptable to a large portion of the American public, it seems not even the U.S. Government (or the NRA) can buy them out.
Where’s my flag? The people have spoken, and this is one of those rare, beautiful moments where I think…hey these people are alright.
